The theme of my concentration is taking urban setting photos that people don’t necessarily consider beautiful and bringing out the true beauty. I traveled to urban settings in both Kansas and Missouri that I had visited before looking for interesting photos. One of the elements that caught my eye was the bright colors, where you wouldn’t think to find. In the photo of the red doors, I was originally drawn to the brightness of the doors and the dullness of their surroundings so I chose to enhance that. Also, in the photo of the two tires I was initially attracted to the bright blue around the dark and dirty tires then was intrigued by the random placement of the tires. Another element that I focused on was the different man-made textures. In the photo of the three train tracks I liked the texture of the tracks and the appearance and texture of the ground surrounding them. In the photo of the building with scaffolding, I was drawn to the textures of the bricks. I also liked that they didn’t have a straight edge in the end, it was jagged which I found to be more interesting.
