My concentration is focused on the Koi Legend- where the koi swims up the waterfall and turns into a dragon. My idea of that concentration is how the koi is weak, yet turns into a dragon becoming something strong. I picked the kois because it symbolizes many things for many people.
Kois symbolizes as beauty, grace, peace, and more. For my concentration, since I'm relating people with kois. I keep the ideas simple, yet make the colors bright or the media flow. I tried adding some people in some way, like adding koi mermaids into the story. I extended the idea by having the mermaids help the koi succeed. I use a lot of blues, purples, and some greens together because I feel like it's very calming to the eye. Kois are a very graceful, peaceful symoblism. I didn't want to ruin their meaning or change it too much. There are also some that I use bright colors just to pop out and catch the eye. Kois stand out, so therefor, wanting my idea to stand out. By adding some koi mermaids, it's nice because humans are also beautiful creatures, and we forget that. Adding to the concentration helps show that humans are also graceful, and peaceful. Most of my pieces do not really have harsh linings, or very specific detail, I wanted most of it to flow nicely. By using paint in the backround or water colors, I use many colors to blend together rather than making specific objects, making the Kois the main focuses of the pieces I do. |
